Revolutionary War Veteran. From a letter received from the Veteran's
Administration, Washington, D.C.:
"Reference is made to your letter of September 8, in which you request the
Revolutionary War record of Daniel Christian who was pensioned while living in
Washington County, Maryland.
His record follows as found in claim for pension, S. 8201, based upon the
Revolutionary War service of Daniel Christian.
Daniel Christian was born in November, 1762, in Berks County, PA; the names
of his parents are not known.
While residing in Reading,Berks County, PA, he volunteered in September
1776, and served two months as private in Captain George Will's Pennsylvania company. He
enlisted in December 1778, served two months as private in Captain Kit's
Pennsylvania company, and was engaged in guarding the Continental stores and
prisoners. He enlisted June 1st, 1780, served as a private in Captain Spoon's
company, Colonel Butler's Pennsylvania regiment, and was discharged January
1st, 1781.
Daniel Christian lived for four or five years after the Revolutionary War
in Berks County, PA, then moved to Washington County, Maryland.
He was allowed pension on his application executed April 4, 1833, while a
resident of Boonsborough, Washington County, MD."Note by Lyn Marshall: The above is copied from the letter from Fay
Christian to Lulu Christian. Fay sent it in response to Lulu's request
for info for her DAR application. It sounded, from his letter, as if Fay was
the one that received the original letter from the VA. References noted were:Pennsylvania Archives Vol. 10 page 592, and Pension Office Book E. Vol. 5 page
