p 35. died at his home: 1770 South Center Blvd., Springfield @ 5:45pm,
Wednesday, 1949, after several months of illness.

He received his elementary school education in the Clarke Co. Public Schools
graduating from Clifton High School. He graduated in 1892 from Miami Medical
College, Cincinnati (now Medical School of the University of Cincinnati).

Following his graduation, he took his post graduate work in Philadelphia
then went to Europe and studied in hospitals and clinics in Berlin, Vienna
and Dublin.

He returned home to open his first office in 1895 in Cincinnati with
Dr. C.C. Agan. While in Cincinnati, he served on the staff of St. Francis
Hospital from 1899 to 1907, then left Cincinnati in 1907 to begin his practice
in Yellow Springs, OH.

p 36. He again went to Europe in 1910 for a period of special duty in Berlin
and upon his return opened an office in Springfield and from 1911 to 1917
served on the staff of the Springfield City Hospital. He continued his
private practice in that city until January 1, 1944, when he was appointed
assistant Public Health Director and served in that capacity until failing
health forced him to resign.

Durning WWI he served with the Army Medical Corps as an expert examiner of
the heart and lungs. He attended Officer's Training School at Fort Benjamin
Harrison, IN, and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant, 1 Apr 1917. He was called
to active duty a short time later and served at Ft. Benjamin Harrison,
Camp Taylor, KY, Ft. Dix, NJ, and Ft. McClellan where he was discharged on
30 Jan 1919 with the rank of Major.

For the last 25 years of his life he gave his services without charge
to the Osterlein Home for children in Springfield, OH.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church; St. Andrew Lodge No.
619; Free and Accepted Masons; Antioch Shrine of Dayton, OH; Morris Chapter
No. 426; Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Clark Co.
Medical Society and of the OH State Medical Society.
