Never let them know your a Viet nam Vet. People still lower them selves to use it against you! In a neighborhood dispute it was found out I served in Nam then called mentaly imbalanced. We can't wear our service as a badage of honor. Someone will allways shame you. So it does mean something so don't try to convince yourself it don't. We will never be honored. Only each other. Peace be with you my Brother. Welcome home.

GOOD IDEA. I AM IN LOVE WITH A MAN WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM AND IT IS SO DIFFICULT DEALING WITH HIM. SOMETIMES I JUST FEEL LIKE GIVING UP ON HIM BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN US. HE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO EXPRESS HIMSELF TO THE FULLEST NOR EPXRESS HIS FEELINGS BUT I LOVE HIM JUST THE SAME AND I WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR HIM.

My book, Of Their Own Accord, is finally in print! It details the heroics of our Ranger unit and the valiant aviation units that supported the Rangers in Nam. See http://oftheirownaccord.com I have a favor to request. My publisher wants me to coordinate purchases through Amazon to potentially catapult my book to be a "Best Seller," if only for an hour or a day, so that the publisher can advertise that status through its national sales force. Conseequently, I request you support this Ranger Request to submit your purchase through Amazon (the lowest price)on May 27th, preferably between the hours of 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time). Of course, I would also appreciate you mentioning this request to anyone else you know who might enjoy obtaining a copy of my book. I will proudly send an autographed bookplate to affix to the inside cover to anyone who requests it. In sharp contract to the complimentary treatment and respect accorded to our current combatants in Iraq by Americans, the Vietnam Veterans were treated harshly and with disrespect. The Vietnam War divided our nation on a scale not witnessed since the Civil War. Unfortunately, an ungrateful America, fed by the myths perpetrated by the media and entertainment industries, castigated or ignored the Vietnam Veteran. Of Their Own Accord unabashedly relates the heroics routinely performed by the elite “Charlie Rangers” of the 75th Infantry. Set in 1970 in the deadly jungles of the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, the novel is riveting, hard-hitting and evocative of a full range of emotions – from abject fear to unqualified heroism, from tender love and devotion to unbridled loyalty, from comedic anecdotes to personal tragedies. The story is ultimately a revelation of the bravery of the special Brotherhood of Warrior Rangers. Of Their Own Accord is a novel that will finally help a discerning nation understand how to condemn an unpopular war while still championing a worthy warrior. Of Their Own Accord will enable the disenfranchised Vietnam Veterans reclaim the honor and dignity they nobly earned through sacrifices on the battlefields over 35 years ago and on the home front ever since. It is a compelling and cathartic read. John, Thanks for compiling such important information on your terrific site. We're all getting older but it's never too late to set the record straight! Revisionists will try to re-write what really happened to fit their agenda but it's people like you who'll preserve the truth. The facts you've presented clearly confirm what we witnessed and experienced as young men who were willing to risk our lives for our country. Nothing will erase our memories - they're ours forever and I'll be proud of my service in Vietnam for the rest of my life. RobertF10@hotmail.com

When Viet Nam vets were returning home and being called baby-killers, I never knew why. With the advent of Kerry for President, now I know. In a small town in the midwest, there was no draft card burnings. My friends went when they were called. I never lost a friend in Viet Nam, but I lost 3 to suicide when they came home. They should never have been made to be ashamed of their service. John Kerry can take a flying leap. He is a traitor. Susan Ferguson
