Baby Grace

You have touched us with your beauty
And with your heart.
Even tho’ we know you cannot stay,
Even as we know you must depart.
How can one hand, so tiny,
In one life, so short,
Touch us with such feeling,
Touch us with such force?
No matter the time,
No matter the place,
Your memory shall live on, fear not,
With love that time cannot erase.
You have honored your name.
You have given us Grace.
And for this, we are eternally grateful.

The first time I met Grace, I immediately saw a baby girl full of spirit, life, and energy. With two of the kindest parents a child could ask for, she couldn’t have been anymore content- I could see it in her bright blue eyes and her adorable smile. While our time with Grace was brief, I felt blessed to be in the presence of a baby with such conviction and will- it truly was a blessing from God to give Grace and her family more time on this Earth then anyone had predicted. In her honor, I have put together a short prayer for the family and friends of the Irby’s:
Christ Jesus, most merciful Saviour,
Hear our prayers as we gather in Your name
We commend this child into Your arms of mercy
Grace has been a blessing to all who knew her.
She brought laughter, warmth, and comfort to many
And in the moments when her family and others showed despair
Grace provided a noble message of hope and promise,
in her unfailing conviction that her life here may be limited
but is by no means final.
Thank you for the love we would never have known,
and for Grace’s brief days with us.
May the angels surround Grace
and the saints welcome her with joy.
